Cutting while in forms

Postby Zack1965 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 2:30 pm

Hi,
First of all...I would like to say thanks for having this forum. It impresses me that the pros, especially Buddy, takes the time to personally answer questions. I don't believe I have come across that before.
I am preparing to cast my countertops using the pressed finish, and I am considering pouring the entire piece in one go without dividing it into sections before the pour. My plan would be to dry cut into pieces(3), after the initial cure, prior to "sticking" it.
My thoughts are the seams will be much less noticeable, and the veining will be consistent through the seam.

I would very much appreciate any feedback or experiences in this.

Thanks.

Ive never done it that way but I dont see why you couldn't.Just be careful doing your cuts that they dont crack or chip.

Thanks for the response. I was planning on using a masonary blade on my circular saw and just cut slowly. I would prefer a wet saw, but what I have doesn't cut that deep. I will give it a try and post my results.

Steve.

That's a great idea. Just take into account the width of the cutting blade. Cut slow and ware a dust mask and goggles.
